KumbuPrivacy Policy
Kumbu is a budgeting app. It needs no account, and we run no server for your data. This page lists what stays on your iPhone and what leaves it.
What stays on your iPhone
Your income, fixed payments, envelopes, entries, savings jars and settings are kept in the app's private storage on your phone. When you say an entry, the text of the sentence is kept with it. We cannot see any of this. It can be part of your own iPhone or iCloud backup, under your Apple account.
Speech
When you tap the mic, Kumbu uses Apple's Speech framework to turn what you say into text. If your language is supported on the device, this happens on your iPhone. Otherwise the audio is sent to Apple to be transcribed, under Apple's privacy policy. Kumbu does not record or keep any audio. See apple.com/legal/privacy.
Gold and currency prices
For savings jars in gold or foreign currency, the app downloads today's prices from our price service. The request carries no budget data, only what any web request carries, such as your IP address, which we do not store.
Notifications
The evening reminder and payment reminders are scheduled on your phone. They do not pass through any server of ours.
Purchases
Payments are handled by Apple. To unlock Pro on your devices the app uses RevenueCat, Inc., which receives your purchase information and a random app user ID. It does not receive your name, email or budget. See revenuecat.com/privacy.
Analytics
To see which parts of the app work and where people get stuck, the app sends anonymous usage events to Google Analytics for Firebase (Google LLC). For example: a setup step was finished, a permission was answered, an entry was made by voice or by typing, how many items a sentence had, an envelope or jar was added, a paywall was shown, a purchase or trial with its product and price, and whether you are on the free plan, a trial or Pro. App version, device model and country are included. Amounts, envelope names, what you said and your income are never sent, and no advertising identifier is used. CSV export
If you export your data, the file is made on your phone and goes only where you send it.
What we don't do
No ads, no tracking across apps or websites, no selling of data. This website uses no cookies and loads nothing from other sites.
Keeping and deleting
Delete an entry, envelope or jar in the app and it is gone. Deleting the app deletes everything it kept on your phone. Analytics data is kept for up to 14 months. If you write to support we keep the conversation for up to two years and delete it sooner on request.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.
